World Humanitarian Day 2022: Current Theme, Quotes, Posters, Messages, Images, To Share

World Humanitarian Day: On August 19, humanitarian workers and brave people who have sacrificed their lives to aid people in the direst situations all over the world are remembered on World Humanitarian Day. And on that day, we celebrate all aid and medical personnel who go above and beyond the call of obligation to protect and save the lives of those who are the most in need.

World Humanitarian Day has been celebrated to remember the great happening that occurred in Baghdad, Iraq, in Canal Hotel. It was a bombing incident that took place on 19 August 2003. In this bomb blast, around 22 people lost their lives including the citizens of Sergio Vieira de Mello contributing a major percentage to the top humanitarian. In 2009, the UNGA, or UN General Assembly, therefore, decided to celebrate the day as World Humanitarian Day.

This year, the day emphasizes the direct human costs of the global warming issue and calls on international authorities to take serious action for the most disadvantaged people on the planet.

According to the UN, 475 humanitarian workers were attacked in 2020, leading to 108 fatalities, 242 injuries, and 125 kidnappings. The majority of the assaults happened in the DRC, South Sudan, and Syria. The Central African Republic, and Mali both saw significant incidences. Since 2018, incidences here have doubled. Attacks on humanitarians in Ethiopia’s Tigray increased in 2020, and they continued to get worse in 2021.

The WHO states that the day is focused on addressing the climate problem in 2021, which would be the single greatest danger to mankind.

The entire planet experienced extreme rising temperatures, deadly storms, and shifting climate patterns. In light of its effects on food systems, the spread of illness, healthcare systems, and society as a whole, changing climate is a health crisis.
