Wells Fargo Bank Employees Terminated for Faking Work Using Keyboard Simulation
Wells Fargo Bank, a popular bank in the United States, has reported firing numerous employees for faking work, according to ET.
A report published by Bloomberg recently stated that dozens of employees from the Wells Fargo & Co firm’s wealth and investment management division received their termination letters.
The employees were given their termination letters last month, in May 2024, after the firm discovered that the workers used keyboard simulation to fake their work activities, added the Bloomberg report.
A spokesperson for the bank stated, “Wells Fargo holds employees to the highest standards and does not tolerate unethical behavior.”
It remains unclear whether the workers were actually found guilty. The employees were working from home when they received the termination letters due to keyboard simulation.
During the pandemic, software used to imitate workers’ activity gained immense limelight and popularity. This occurred when the majority of companies had to shift to remote jobs.

A few years ago, Wells Fargo employees experienced a similar termination when they violated the company’s expense policy. The workers particularly sought reimbursement for ineligible evening meals.
Notably, various financial institutions in the U.S., including banks, have begun asking their employees to work from offices. However, Wells Fargo gave its workers the liberty to stay at home and work. Reportedly, the bank took longer to implement this change than some of its competitors.
Employees of Wells Fargo were asked to return to the office in early 2022. However, they were asked to follow the “hybrid flexible model.”
Currently, the bank has asked its workers to be present in the office and work for at least three days a week. Moreover, members of the management committee are asked to work from the office for four days a week.
