The Greater Noida authority will soon start working on the construction of the proposed underpass on ‘Char Murti’ (Kisan Chowk) traffic intersection. It has also been proposed to hire a consultant in the initial stage as the busy traffic congestion would affect the daily commuters in the area. The Greater Noida West is a hub of many societies. If the underpass is built then it would be s great help to solve the problem of traffic in the area, said sources.
Greater Noida developmental projects
“We have issued a tender to hire a consultant who will prepare a detailed project report (DPR) of the underpass. Once the DPR is ready, the project will witness further progress. We hope that the DPR is prepared in the next two to three months, paving way for construction work to begin at the site,” said Salil Yadav, charge general manager, of Greater Noida authority.
This year in March, the concerned authority approved ₹60 crores for the construction of the underpass along with fixing the deadline for the next 3 months to prepare DPR. Earlier, the project didn’t see any progress but now the authority has finalised the consultant to prepare the DPR containing all the details regarding the construction such as the length and width of the underpass along with other technical aspects, sources said.
As per CRRI, around 13,000 vehicles pass through Kisan Chowk traffic intersection on a daily basis making the bypass one of the busiest places in Greater Noida. It is also a hub of housing societies with almost 450,000 flats, said officials of the Greater Noida authority.
Currently, only 30% of housing units are occupied and once the rest gets occupied too then the traffic congestion will also increase. So, building an underpass would be necessary authority officials added.
