Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana was rolled out at Vastral in Gujarat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019. This scheme comes under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. 

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana is regarded as the globe’s largest pension scheme. It is a central sector scheme that was introduced in the first place for the protection of old people and the social security of Unorganized workers (UW). 

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana is a contributory and voluntary pension scheme aiming to provide protection and security to the old age group and unorganized workers.

The scheme aimed to benefit approximately 42 crore unorganized workers in India. Workers from the unorganized sectors are construction workers, midday meal workers, agricultural workers, rickshaw pullers, street vendors, and workers in other similar professions. 

When the beneficiaries attain the age of 60 under this scheme, they are entitled to get an assured monthly pension of Rs 3000/- per month. Moreover, “50% of the pension shall be entitled to the spouse of the beneficiary as family pension after the death of the beneficiary.”

Under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana, various benefits are offered to the beneficiaries under the scheme. 

If an active beneficiary who has paid contributions regularly dies due to any cause before attaining the age of 60, then his or her partner will be entitled to join the scheme. The partner is required to pay the regular contribution or exit the scheme according to the provisions of withdrawal and exit. 

Eligibility Criteria of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana

Candidates to be eligible to get the benefits offered under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Yojana should fulfill the below-mentioned conditions.

1. The candidate is required to be an unorganized worker.

2. The minimum age required is 18 years, while the maximum age is 40 years. 

3. The candidate must have a monthly remuneration of Rs 15000 or below. 

4. The beneficiary is required to have a valid Aadhar card along with an account number and IFSC code of a Jan Dhan account or Savings Bank Account. 

5. Individuals employed in organized sectors possessing the membership of ESIC/NPS/EPF are not eligible for the scheme. 

6. Any individual who is an active income taxpayer is not eligible to apply for Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana. 

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana Apply Online Step-by-Step Guide

The people who are eligible to enroll in the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan scheme must possess an Aadhaar number, mobile phone, and savings bank account. 

1. Interested individuals are required to visit the closest Common Services Centres (CSC eGovernance Services India Limited (CSC SPV). 

2. With the help of a savings bank account/Jan-Dhan account and the Aadhaar number, the benefits are required to get enrolled on a self-certificate basis. 

3. The beneficiary also has the option to visit the web portal of the PM-SYM Yojana. He/she is required to use the Jan-Dhan account number/savings bank account/Aadhar number to self-register on a self-certificate basis.

 4. Common Services Centres are the different enrollment agencies that carry out the enrollment process. 

5. Unorganized workers can also visit the nearest CSC with all the valid documents to register themselves for the scheme.

6. Labour offices of the State Government and Central Government, ESIC/EPFO, and Life Insurance Corporation are required to facilitate the unorganized workers about the rest of the enrollment procedure and benefits offered under the PM-SYM Scheme.
