The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana or PMKSY was launched on July 1, 2015. The objective behind the scheme was to achieve investments in the irrigation sector at the field level. 

The scheme aims to offer end-to-end irrigation supply chain solutions including farm-level applications, distribution networks, and water sources. 

The focus of the scheme is to develop water sources to achieve guaranteed irrigation along with constructing protective irrigation. The latter can be done by capturing the rainwater at the micro-level with the help of “Jal Sinchan” and “Jal Sanchay.”

The aim of the scheme is to offer people with agricultural fields in the country access to protected irrigation. Moreover, it also aims to produce “more drop” which might result in much-desired rural wealth.

Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana

The beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana are the farmers. However, the other eligibility criteria under the PMKSY are mentioned below. 

1. Farmers belonging to any division or class are eligible to apply for the scheme. 

2. To enjoy the benefits offered under the Yojana, farmers are required to hold land property in the first place. 

3. The members of producer farmer groups, trust cooperative societies, and self-help organizations are eligible to get benefits under the scheme. 

4. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana is only available to Indian citizens. 

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to apply for Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, the following conditions should be met. 

1. The applicant is required to be a citizen of India. 

2. All the farmers existing in the state and the union territory are eligible to enjoy benefits offered under the scheme. 

3. The beneficiary is entitled to payable of subsidies with a cap of 5 hectares per beneficiary.

4. Conditions apply that the beneficiary is required to buy the systems or components which are BIS-marked only. 

5. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana implementation is done through the system of Direct Benefit Transfer. Hence, the Aadhaar card details of the beneficiary are required to enjoy the benefits offered under the scheme.

Follow the following steps to apply for the yojana online. 

1. Based on the requirements of region and field, the farmers can contact either their District or Block Agriculture Office through their respective Gram Panchayat. Moreover, the farmer can also give a call to Toll-Free No. 1800 180 1551, the Kisan Call Centre. 

2. Farmers have the option to get in touch with the concerned authority and request or collect an application form from the concerned authority to apply for the scheme. 

3. When you get the application form, make sure to fill in all the important fields accurately. Attach all the mandatory documents that are asked to be self-attested. Also, paste the passport-sized photograph & sign in. 

4. After final filling up of the application form, it is submitted along with all the required documents to the authority designated for receiving the form. 

5. You will get an acknowledgment of the successful submission of the application form or a receipt from the designated authority. After collecting it, save it for future use.
