Noida cops hold security meet with malls ahead of New Year celebrations

Last week, Noida Police Authority conducted a meeting with the operators of bars, shopping malls, and restaurants along with reviewing the traffic arrangements ahead of New Year celebrations.

The last-minute meeting was called after Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh reviewed the malls as well as markets around Sector-18, the most crowded area of Noida. 

Officials said that a police helpdesk will be set up at shopping malls, hired taxis will be stationed outside malls for tipplers’ convenience, and no establishments have been given permission to invite celebrities for performances to control the crowd.

“In order to check drunk driving, police will be arranging hired cabs with verified drivers to help people reach their homes. We have directed our personnel to take strict action in cases of drunk driving,” said Harish Chander, deputy commissioner of police, Noida.

The meeting was conducted at the Sector-6 NEA Bhawan along with DCP Chander, assistant commissioner of police Rajneesh Verma and additional DCP Ashutosh Dwivedi. The security representatives of pubs, malls from DLF Mall of India, Gardens Galleria, and Radisson Blu to name a few. 

As per police authority, there are 11 registered bars around Noida including 26 in Gardens Galleria and 3 DLF Mall of India.

“Strict directions have been issued on following government guidelines regarding serving of liquor and loud music to operators between December 25 and December 31. A security audit of these malls, bars and restaurants has been done to assess their security arrangements, CCTV coverage and existing dark areas which need to be lit up,” DCP Chander said.

The main aim of the meeting was to take measures and discuss suggestions from the mall operators so that necessary action can take in order to provide a smooth flow of traffic and relaxed place to ring the new year celebrations.
