Karnataka CM states seven interrogated and statements recorded in Pro-Pak slogan case

Bengaluru, Feb 29 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed the Assembly on Thursday, stating that the police have interrogated seven individuals and recorded their statements concerning the incident of pro-Pakistan slogans being raised in the Vidhana Soudha premises. Reacting to BJP legislators’ protest, Siddaramaiah assured that the matter was being taken seriously and action would be taken as per the law.

CM Siddaramaiah emphasized, “We have taken a suo moto case. If a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) proves the charges, whoever it may be, the action will be taken.” Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara added that the FSL report was requested due to conflicting media reports and reiterated that the government would not protect anyone.

Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka criticized the government’s handling of the situation, suggesting that the accused individuals should have been immediately arrested and charged with sedition instead of lesser offenses. BJP MLAs raised slogans in the Assembly, calling for action against those involved in the pro-Pakistan slogans and questioning the government’s response.

As chaos ensued in the House, CM Siddaramaiah attempted to present the budget statement, but BJP leaders staged a walkout in protest. BJP MLA Arvind Bellad expressed doubts about the authenticity of the FSL report, while Munirathna, another BJP MLA, claimed that individuals linked to past bombings in Bengaluru may be involved in the recent incident of pro-Pakistan slogans.

The incident has sparked controversy and criticism from the opposition, highlighting the government’s handling of the situation and calls for more stringent action against those involved in raising pro-Pakistan slogans in the Vidhana Soudha premises. Authorities continue to investigate the matter, with the focus on determining the veracity of the charges and ensuring appropriate legal action is taken against the perpetrators.
