English cricketer Peter Trego led Mumbai Champions to an eight-wicket victory over VVIP Uttar Pradesh in the 11th match of the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex.

VVIP Uttar Pradesh posted a challenging total of 176/6, with Anshul Kapoor scoring an unbeaten 87 off 59 balls. Mumbai Champions’ bowlers, Peter Trego and Afroz Khan, took two wickets each to restrict the opposition.

In reply, Mumbai Champions chased down the target with ease in 19 overs, thanks to unbeaten knocks from Abhishek Jhunjhunwala (69*) and Peter Trego (41*). Virender Sehwag also contributed with 35 runs.

VVIP Uttar Pradesh lost early wickets but Anshul Kapoor’s innings and Punit Bisht’s quickfire 26 off 12 balls helped them reach 176. However, Mumbai’s strong batting lineup ensured a comfortable victory.

The partnership between Jhunjhunwala and Trego was crucial in Mumbai’s win, as they combined for 112 runs. Jhunjhunwala’s aggressive batting and Trego’s composed innings sealed the victory for Mumbai Champions.

After this win, Mumbai Champions will face Rajasthan Legends next, while VVIP Uttar Pradesh will take on Chhattisgarh Warriors in their upcoming matches in the IVPL.
