Social media is abuzz with a new viral TikTok video where a just-married woman is not pleased by the pictures of her wedding taken by her photographer. When she confronted the photographer to express her viewpoint, she was surprised by his response and took the battle to TikTok.

What exactly is the ire of the bride against the photographer and why has her video become the talking point of the town? Read on to know more about the whole episode.

‘Sepia Bride’ TikTok Drama Decoded

The bride at the center of this whole controversy is Alexandra Jaye Conder (formerly Weinstein). Her viral TikTok has sparked a big discussion about the need for good communication between couples and the photographers whom they have entrusted with the responsibility of chronicling the occasion by taking pictures.

Alexandra had tied the knot at a big wedding bash in Anguilla last November. Photographer Hannah Elise was entrusted with the responsibility of video and content creation for the day.

Alexandra was initially satisfied with the pictures snapped by her photographer, but later her views changed, and she started picking out errors in the contents. She later contacted the photographer to make the edits, and if that was not possible, to give her the raw prints so that she could make the edits herself. To her surprise, the photographer asked for a hefty sum to make the edits and even threatened to sue her for slander.

That left the bride with no other option but to turn to the power of social media and use TikTok to vent her frustration. She posted a series of videos that quickly gained traction online, and soon the saga was christened the “sepia bride” drama.

In her first video, she stated,

“Imagine paying almost $8,000 for a wedding photographer. And when you raised your concerns, they threatened to sue you for slander if you spoke your truth,”

This was followed by a series of videos totaling 14 videos where the bride aired her frustrations.

However, in the beginning, the bride found the pictures fine and stated,

“Her feet looked so bright, airy, but also had this golden-ness to it, and I loved that the golden-ness still captured the beauty of colors, blue, your skin tone, etc.”

However, the pictures from her overcast wedding day put a damper on the initial euphoria. The Bride stated,

“Our wedding day was overcast, nothing you can really do about that. However, photographers should know how to shoot in an overcast situation. I’m a makeup artist, okay? I was a makeup artist in the wedding industry for years. And I did my own makeup for my wedding. And I’m staring at the solo pictures of me and I’m like, hmm, I kind of look really pale and my makeup isn’t showing at all.”

The TikTok community had mixed reactions to the bride’s complaint.

“Do people get married for the photos?” one person commented on the initial vid. “This is insane to me. I don’t understand.”

The bride quickly replied, “No, we do not get married for the photos. But we do get married. And I love photos.”

Several professional photographers chipped in with their insights.

Hudson Valley NY Wedding Photo commented,

“I think these are all gorgeous. The editing is consistent, the difference is the lighting & background, which plays a role in the final product. No image will look exactly the same in different light.”

Photographer @asiachristine_ added, “11 yrs as a wedding photographer — it’s 100% the lighting, location, backgrounds that makes them look so different. I LOVE film edits, but it’s so tricky because it can look so beautiful in some situations & muddy in others.
