Echoes of Delhi’s Burari Incident: Five Family Members Found Dead in MP’s Alirajpur District Suicide Pact

In what could be described as a rerun of Delhi’s Burari mass suicide, five members of a family were found hanging in the village of Revadi, Alirajpur in MP.

The horrific incident was discovered in the early hours of Monday.

As per the police, five members of a family committed suicide.

The police received an alert in the morning, and a team led by the SDOP of Alirajpur reached Ravdi village, Sondwa tehsil, where they found the family of five had committed mass suicide by hanging.

The five victims were identified as Rakesh Dodwa (27), his wife Lalita Dodwa (25), and their children Laxmi (9), Prakash (7), and Akshay (5).

The police official confirmed, “The distressing report of five deaths in Ravdi village, Sondwa tehsil, reached us at 7 AM today.”

Police have sent the bodies for autopsy as officials try to find out the circumstances that led the family to take such extreme steps.

The tragedy once again brings memories of similar incidents that have rocked different parts of the nation.

Seven members of a family were found dead in Surat’s Palanpur Jakatnak Road area in Gujarat last year. Six of the victims had consumed poison, while the seventh had committed suicide by hanging.

The police investigation revealed that the family had committed suicide due to financial troubles, and a suicide note was also recovered from the house. The police also revealed that tragic circumstances have gripped communities in recent years.

In 2022, nine members of a family had committed mass suicide in Maharashtra’s Mhaisal village.

No one can forget the infamous Burari incident in Delhi, where 11 family members were similarly discovered to have taken their lives exactly 6 years ago on July 1.
