YouTubers Dhruv Rathee and Gaurav Taneja in War of Words over India vs Bharat Debate, NCERT Director Says It’s ‘Useless’

Spiritual guru Jagadish Vasudev, the founder of the Isha Foundation, recently ignited a war of words among influential YouTubers Dhruv Rathee and Gaurav Taneja, causing chaos on X, formerly Twitter.

YouTubers are embroiled in an altercation with each other over a “Bharat” vs “India” debate. The feud escalated when Taneja said, “some foreigners want to control all content on the internet,” slamming Dhruv Rathee.

The feud began when Jagadish Vasudev reshared a post from October 2023 and added his views on the India vs Bharat debate. The post mentioned the initial recommendation of NCERT’s committee to replace ‘India’ with ‘Bharat’ in the books.

The spiritual guru urged his followers to not use ‘India,’ but rather ‘Bharat’ in their day-to-day lives, arguing that ‘India’ is more associated with British rule. Sadhguru added that the term “India” has “no meaning.”

The founder of the Isha Foundation concluded, “Younger generations must know that Bharat existed long before India was born.”

Not surprisingly, the post, which was shared on June 18, accumulated over 1.5 million views.

Dhruv Rathee’s Interference

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee responded to Sadhguru by stating, “Can you stop your anti-India agenda, Mr. Jagadish Vasudev? Everyone knows that both India and Bharat are written in our constitution, but just for politics, you are playing this dirty game of divide and rule.”

To which another youtuber Gaurav Taneja shared a snapshot of Dhruv Rathee’s comments. The former empathized with the fact that different opinions can also exist on the world of the internet.

Taneja added, “Why do some foreigners want to control all content on the internet?”

For those unversed, Dhruv Rathee is an Indian.

However, his detractors often deem him a “foreigner.” Dhruv originally belonged to Rohtak, Haryana. However, his wife is German.

Dhruv Rathee, in response, rebuked Taneja for the latter’s plummeting YouTube engagement. Moreover, he added, “No controversy can save your dying career, Gaurav, not even exploiting your kids for drama. You have to make valuable content for that. Let me suggest my YouTube Blueprint course if you need help. Good luck :)”

NCERT’s Stance

Amid the chaos about the India vs Bharat debate on the social media platform X, NCERT issued a clear statement.

Dinesh Prasad Saklani on June 17, Monday, told PTI that both Bharat and India can be used interchangeably in all NCERT books. The same is the case with the Constitution as well.

Moreover, he concluded his statement by mentioning that this India vs Bharat debate is “useless.”
