‘Bam Bam’ Album: Camila Cabello Opens Up About Her Break Up With Shawn Mendes

All of us are well-aware of the iconic duo Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. At the same time, most of them were constantly shipping the two of them. Ever since the breakup, none of the two did speak openly about the reason behind it, until a few days back when Camila released a new album. In her much-anticipated new track “Bam Bam,” showcasing British singer Ed Sheeran, international sensation Camila Cabello laments about maneuvering single life after a split.

Epic Records released the cinematic video clip in the nation on March 4, and the three-time Grammy nominee’s new album “Familia” will be released on April 8.

Camila and Ed discuss grappling with the awareness of the difference in equation with your former lover and being aware of the fact that ex-partners do drift apart in life, centered on the words of “Bam Bam.”

Collaboration With Ed Sheeran

Cabello, Ed Sheeran, and Ricky Reed collaborated on the song “Bam Bam.” The track is the first moment Camila has mentioned anything about her separation from Shawn Mendes.

Ricky Reed, Edgar Barerra, and Cheche Alara collaborated on the track’s production. Mia Barnes created the video with Dave Meyers, who also filmed Cabello’s videos for “Havana,” “Senorita,” “My Oh My,” and “Liar.”

“Bam Bam” is her debut single for 2022, and it’s among the most desired event singles of the year. It significantly reconnects her with Ed Sheeran, a four-time Grammy Award winner and one of the world’s best-selling musicians. It’s the continuation of a collaborative partnership that began with Sheeran’s gold-certified 2019 smash “South of the Border” with Camila Cabello and Cardi B.

Last year, she established the tone for the album with “Don’t Go Yet,” which amassed 232 million Spotify listens.

What She Replied To The Whole Situation

“Those years that we were dating, I don’t even feel like, even while I was writing this album, and even still now, I guess, my focus is really on, how can I be a well-rounded person?” Cabello said.

“And apart from my career, my focus wasn’t even on my career. This album literally was a tool for me to become a more well-rounded person and acquire intimacy with my collaborators. That was my number one intention, was not even, how do I make the best album and the best music? My number one intention was, how can I just make music with people that I want to f—ing has dinner with afterward? How can I talking about these things help me build trust with people? How can I talk about the icky things that I haven’t talked about with anybody and then get it to a place where these people, because they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, I totally relate,’ can validate my own experience?” is what Camila said when she was asked about the topic.

Camila stated that her main goal in life was to be content and in a happy relationship. She went on to say that she had been doing a lot of treatment and that her focus had shifted. “I think as I get older, yeah, the priorities shift,” she added.

Camila believed it was the same for her and Shawn. “Because we both started so young too, we’re really learning how to be healthy adults. And that sometimes means not having your number one focus be your career. And that’s okay,” she added.
