Ambon: Viral Explicit Video of Elderly Man and Young Woman Sparks Police Investigation and Community Outrage

Ambon, Maluku: A scandalous video featuring an elderly man identified only by his initials PS, aged 62, and a young woman with initials EL, has become the center of a major controversy after going viral on social media platforms. The video, which was reportedly recorded without EL’s consent, was made public this past week.

According to Ipda Janete S Luhukay, Head of Public Relations at the Ambon Island and Lease Islands Police, the female in the video, EL, was unaware of the video’s existence until a friend, identified by the initials RS, informed her.

The spread of the video left EL in a state of panic and fear. She later filed a police report on Friday, June 21.

“Upon learning about the video’s viral status, EL was understandably frightened and reported the incident to the Ambon Island Police for appropriate legal action,” Ipda Luhukay explained.

Following EL’s report, local police acted swiftly to address the situation. PS, the elderly man in the video, was arrested and examined by authorities.

“We have formally named PS as a suspect in this case under the charges of distributing pornographic material,” stated AKP La Beli, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit for the Ambon Island and Lease Island Police.

PS is currently being held at the Ambon Island Police Headquarters Detention Center pending further investigation. He is being charged under Article 29 of Law Number 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography.

EL, in her statement to local media, asserted that she had not been coerced by PS at any point before, during, or after the video’s creation and subsequent viral spread.

“I was never intimidated by PS, not when the video was recorded, and not after it went viral,” EL clarified.

She revealed that her family took legal steps immediately after the video became widespread on social media.

“We cannot accept the circulation of such material and have reported PS to the police,” she added.

As the case attracts public and media scrutiny, the Ambon Island and Lease Island Police continue to investigate the circumstances under which the video was made and distributed. The case has sparked discussions about privacy violations and the misuse of digital platforms in spreading non-consensual content.
