AIFF President to approach Delhi Police's ACB Unit to probe alleged match-fixing in Delhi League

AIFF Demands Clarification from Delhi Soccer Association Over Match-Fixing Allegations

The All-India Football Federation (AIFF) has issued a notice to the Delhi Soccer Association, seeking an explanation for the alleged match-fixing incident during the Delhi Premier League match between Ahbab FC and Rangers FC on February 19, 2024. Videos of dubious own goals have surfaced on social media, raising concerns about the integrity of the match.

It is alleged that players scored suspicious own goals during the match, leading to suspicions of match-fixing. The incident took place after Ahbab FC had taken a 4-0 lead, with their defenders scoring own goals in a bizarre manner, sparking controversy and speculation about foul play.

Following the suspension of Ahbab FC by the Delhi Soccer Association, the AIFF has decided to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the alleged match-fixing incidents in leagues across the country. AIFF officials, led by President Kalyan Chaubey, held an emergency meeting and summoned DSA President Anuj Gupta to gather details and the association’s stance on the issue.

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey stated, “We are not limiting our investigation to one match here. Several pieces of incriminating evidence have been found which cast serious doubts on the entire league. We will be working with the Anti-Corruption Bureau and urging the DSA to file an FIR immediately. Our investigation will not be limited to Delhi, as we have reason to believe that such practices may exist in other cities as well.”

The AIFF’s decision to launch a wider investigation reflects its commitment to upholding the integrity of football in India. The outcome of the probe will be crucial in uncovering any potential malpractice and ensuring fair play in football leagues across the country.
